South Regional Council Seeks MINTP Support for 400km Road Development Programme

The South Regional Council has requested technical support from the Ministry of Public Works, MINTP, for the implementation of a road development programme covering nearly 400 kilometres of regional roads.

The request was made on July 14, 2026, during an audience granted by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, to a delegation led by the Vice-President of the South Regional Council, Cathy Bisse Meba.

During the meeting, the delegation commended the government\'s sustained investment in road infrastructure across the South Region. Particular appreciation was expressed for the progress of works on the Ebolowa–Akom II–Kribi road and the rehabilitation of the Ebolowa–Ambam road, projects expected to enhance mobility and support socio-economic development.

The Council also presented its programme aimed at opening up the region through the construction of nearly 400 kilometres of roads of regional interest. To facilitate the mobilisation of funding, the delegation sought the ministry\'s technical assistance in carrying out the preliminary studies required for the project.

Responding, Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi welcomed the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort towards strengthening decentralised local development. He assured the Council of the ministry\'s readiness to provide technical support within available means and encouraged other regional and local authorities to adopt similar planning and project preparation approaches for infrastructure development.
