Hon. Malomba Esembe Appointed Alternate Member of Higher Judicial Council
Hon. Malomba Esembe, Member of Parliament for Buea Urban Constituency, has been appointed as an Alternate Member of Cameroon’s Higher Judicial Council, following a designation by the National Assembly and endorsement through a presidential decree signed by Head of State Paul Biya.
As an alternate member, Hon. Malomba will not exercise permanent voting rights. He will, however, step in with full authority whenever the substantive member is absent, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to discharge duties.
The Higher Judicial Council is Cameroon’s highest judicial oversight body, responsible for the appointment, discipline, and career management of magistrates.
Widely regarded as one of the dynamic young lawmakers in the National Assembly, Hon. Malomba also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Laws, Human Rights and Freedoms, Justice, Legislation and Standing Orders, and Administration.
He further chairs the Parliamentary Network of MPs for Road Safety, where he leads advocacy efforts aimed at reducing road traffic accidents nationwide. He also presides over the South West Regional Participatory Committee, overseeing the monitoring of Public Investment Budget (BIP) execution.
Born on September 14, 1985, the trained magistrate previously served for nearly nine years at the Office of the Procureur Général in Buea before entering Parliament in 2020.
Beyond his legislative work, he is known for spearheading the “NA WE WE” initiative focused on youth empowerment, social cohesion, and local development in his constituency. He is also active in community and religious life as an elder within the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.
Hon. Malomba has been decorated with several national honours, including Officer and Knight of the Order of Valour, as well as Knight of the Order of Merit.
