Dr Roland Kwemain: A Leadership Reflection for 2026
As the world steps into 2026, leadership expert and Go Ahead Africa founder, Dr Roland Kwemain, has shared a timely message, urging leaders to pause, reflect and realign rather than rush into doing more.
According to Dr Kwemain, if there is one piece of advice leaders should hold onto in 2026, it is this: do not begin the year by doing more, but by being more intentional and more just.
He notes that leadership in today’s fast-paced world is often marked by haste and pressure to deliver quick results, sometimes at the expense of fairness, clarity and purpose.
“More just in our decisions, more just in our priorities and more just in our relationships,” he writes, stressing that the world does not need leaders who are constantly rushed, but those who are clear in vision, aligned in values and accountable in action.
Dr Kwemain further calls on leaders to take a moment of reflection before fully entering the new year, guided by three key questions:
What must I stop doing in order to remain aligned?
What courageous decision do I need to finally make?
What lasting impact do I truly want to leave behind?
Drawing wisdom from African heritage, he recalls a proverb which states that those who do not know where they are going must first sit down to understand where they come from and what they carry within. For him, self-awareness remains the foundation of purposeful leadership.
As 2026 approaches, the leadership coach urges decision-makers at all levels to make deliberate choices: depth over noise, coherence over dispersion, and lasting impact over immediate effect.
He concludes by reminding leaders that true power does not lie in controlling the future, but in preparing for it inwardly. Dr Kwemain wishes leaders a new year marked by clarity, alignment and fruitfulness, while challenging them to identify the single inner priority that will guide their decisions and influence how they lead others.
Happy New Year 2026.
