ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics.
Engineering degree in Civil Engineering (Bridges and Roads).

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

1. State Engineer (1960): He participated in major infrastructure projects, notably the Édéa III Dam.

2. Creation of SONEL: Under presidential directives, he coordinated the merger of former electricity companies (ENELCAM, EDC, and POWERCAM) to establish the National Electricity Company (SONEL).

3. Managing Director of SONEL: He led the company for more than 20 years (1974–1984, then 1989–2001). He oversaw the expansion of the national electricity grid prior to its privatisation by the AES Corporation in 2001.

POLITICAL CAREER

Minister of Planning and Regional Development (1990–1991).

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Mines, Water, and Energy (1992).

Mayor of Bangangté (2002–2007): He devoted his efforts to his hometown before being succeeded by Célestine Ketcha Courtès.

President of the Senate (2013–2026): Appointed by Paul Biya at the creation of the upper house, he became its first President.
