Nchofon Mingoh: Steering Humanitarian Response in the North West Region
As the North West Region continues to grapple with the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing Anglophone Crisis, one administrator has emerged as a key pillar in coordinating emergency relief and restoring hope among displaced and vulnerable populations. Nchofon Mingoh, Regional Coordinator for the Government Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Plan, based in Bamenda, who doubles as the Assistant Divisional Officer, ADO, for Bamenda I Subdivision, stands at the forefront of the region’s humanitarian response, ensuring timely, effective and inclusive support to thousands of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and conflict-affected communities.
Born on January 10, 1990, in Bambalang, Ndop Central Subdivision, Ngoketunjia Division, Nchofon Mingoh is a Cameroonian Senior Executive Officer whose career reflects deep commitment to public service, crisis management and community development. His current dual role places him at the heart of humanitarian coordination and local administration in one of the country’s most fragile regions.
Coordinating Relief Amid Crisis
As Regional Coordinator for the Government Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Plan in the North West, Nchofon Mingoh oversees the planning, coordination and distribution of humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations. His work involves liaising with government departments, humanitarian organisations, traditional authorities and local councils to ensure that relief reaches those most in need.
In a region severely impacted by displacement, food insecurity, health challenges and disrupted livelihoods, his leadership has contributed to improved coordination of emergency responses, streamlined aid delivery mechanisms and enhanced monitoring of humanitarian interventions. Under his stewardship, emergency assistance has been directed towards displaced families, women, children and persons with disabilities, helping to ease the burden of crisis.
Colleagues describe him as a resilient administrator, known for his hands-on approach, field presence and strong engagement with affected communities. His efforts have helped strengthen trust between public authorities and populations struggling with the harsh realities of conflict.
A Solid Administrative and Academic Foundation
Nchofon Mingoh’s effectiveness in humanitarian coordination is underpinned by a strong academic and professional background. He holds two Master’s degrees from the University of Bamenda: one in Comparative Politics and another in Public Administration and Policy. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the same institution.
His professional training includes a Brevet de l’ENAM from the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM, and a CAPIEMP certificate from the Government Teacher Training College, Nkambe. This blend of administrative, political and educational training has shaped his holistic approach to public service and humanitarian leadership.
Experience Across Regions and Sectors
Before assuming his current responsibilities, Nchofon Mingoh served as Support Staff at the Department of Civil Protection in the Ministry of Territorial Administration, MINAT, in Yaoundé. He also worked as Assistant Divisional Officer, ADO, in Limbe III Subdivision in the South West Region and later in Bamenda I Subdivision, Mezam Division, where he currently serves.
Beyond administration, he has been actively involved in humanitarian work, particularly in managing IDPs during the Anglophone Crisis. His participation in national and international seminars on humanitarian response and crisis management has further strengthened his capacity to operate effectively in complex emergency environments.
