
The branch of the Mbingo Baptist Referral hospital in Bamenda, North-West region of Cameroon now have a
dedicated children’s operating room thanks to global charities, SMILE TRAIN and KID’S OPERATION ROOM .
Pediatrician surgeon excersing at the Mbingo hospital says this operating room will improve surgical care for these children as it will create a more friendly environment before , during and after surgery .

Smile Train program director for Central Africa , Dr Nicole Bouba notes that children require specialized surgical equipments and an environment which makes them feel safe and comfortable.
The Director of the Kids Operating Room in Africa recognized that timely and and quality access to surgery for all children should be a right regardless of one’s social status or economic background.
To add, the long term collaboration of kid’s opdarsting Room and Smile Train will result in over 30 pediatric operating rooms located all over the African continent in the next five years , treating more than 12,000 children .
This partnership is also supporting a pediatric surgery scholarship which has as aim to train and educate 40 pediatrician surgeons across Africa in partnership with the
West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and the College of Surgeons of East , Central and Southern Africa ( COSECSA )
Smile Train is a charity organization which empowers local medical professionals with training , funding and resources to provide free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children globally.
Kids Operating Room is a global health charity with bases in Nairobi, Edinburgh, London and Dundee which works in collaboration with local surgeons and thier teams across Africa and South America to transform hospital spaces into dedicated operating rooms for children’s surgery, creating child- friendly surroundings and providing surgeons with necessary equipments to care for these children.
This installation will benefit not only residents of the North-West region but also the whole of Cameroon.
