Tah Mai Jarvis and Christian Tebong journalist and Cameraman respectively working for My Media Prime TV , one of BT Media Group’s Channels were released this Wednesday evening September 23, 2020 after spending over 25 hours in custody at the Maritime Gendarmerie Brigade.
They were arrested on Tuesday at the Deido Roundabout while covering the nationwide protest call by Maurice Kamto to oust president Paul Biya from power. Calls from journalists’ trade unions , civil society and the Management of BT Media Group soar shortly after these duo could not be traced in any Gendarmerie brigades in the city. Their whereabouts only became known at 4pm after a serious search by their lawyer.
The unlawful arrest and detention of these journalists has been criticised by many.
