The Minister of Territorial administration Paul Atanga Nji has warned anyone who will attempt to disrupt the December 6 regional elections in Cameroon.
His intervention comes after a decree signed by H.E Paul Biya on the 7 september conveying the electoral colleges for the regional elections.
The regional elections comes after the twin legislative and municipal elections organised in February 2020 which had a timid atmosphere characterised by ghost towns and a low participation in the NW and SW regions.
Reacting to Mr Paul Biya’s decree to convey the regional elections on December 6 2020, interior minister Paul Atanga Nji said in a press conference organised yesterday in the nation’s capitalthat “The Ministry of Territorial Administration will provide ELECAM with optimum security for the election of regional councilors which should take place nation wide in a very serene atmosphere”
Concerning the North West and South West , they will be attributed the house of chiefs.
Furthermore this regional elections has raised polemics in the public opinion due to insecured atmosphere in the regions characterised by confrontations between armed separatist fighters and the military leading to ghost towns,lost of lifea and have put fear in the hearts of the population
In addition to that the traditional rulers are also called with the divisional delegates to the polls, whereas most of the traditional rulers and authorities have left their villages due to threats .
