Protests continue in Ivory Coast as men, women, boys and girls come out to oppose President Alassane Ouattara’s quest for a third term in office!

President Ouattara, who has governed since 2011, said in March he would not run again, drawing worldwide applause from the likes of President Macron. However, Ouattara’s preferred successor, then-prime minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, died in July, leading the party to ask Ouattara to reconsider.

this month, the President said he will stand for the election. Opponents say the two-term limit in the constitution makes President Ouattara ineligible for the office but the latter argues his first two mandates do not count under the new constitution adopted in 2016.
