MAYORS OF MOST AFFECTED REGIONS RESOLVE TO IMPROVE MEASURES TO FIGHT COVID-19

Mayors from Yaounde and Douala have stepped up measures to fight COVID-19 in thier respective regions.

Since the coming of COVID -19 to Cameroon, Yaounde and Douala have recorded more cases than other regions in the territory. Under the supervision of the minister of Communication Rene Emmanuel Sadi, Mayors from these regions have held a working session to improve on the measures already laid out by the president of the Republic His Excellency Paul Biya.
Speaking during the session, the Minister of Communication commented that the traditional media would now be used so that communication reaches even those at the grassroots.
Observing the sudden return to normalcy in Yaounde and Douala since the Government uplifted the 6:00pm ban on bars, the Mayor of Yaounde 5, Bala Augustine says there is need to educate the population on the use of putting on mask as Yaounde inhabitants stand a high risk of contacting the virus.
He further reiterated that, every possible measure will be used to communicate to the commoners in the society.
Douala City Mayor calls on the population to strictly heed to the measures put in place by government. He also advice inhabitants of Douala to use face masks at public places.
Given the severity of the virus world wide, the Government intends to involve traditional and religious leaders in the fight against the Corona Virus.
