officers injured in women’s day attack in Bamenda
Military sources say 1 soldier has been killed and several others injured following an explosion at the Bamenda ceremonial grandstand as Governor Lele L’Afrique delivered speech on women’s day. Some shops also reportedly went up in flames at the commercial avenue in Bamenda. Sources say gunmen had implanted explosives in some strategic areas near the ceremonial grandstand at commercial avenue in a bit to frustrate women’s day celebration in that part of the country. The attack has been largely blamed on separatists in the region who say they are fighting to restore the statehood of former British Southern Camerooons which they now refer to as Ambazonian Republic.
