Biya Appoints Members of Higher Judicial Council

The president of the Republic of Cameroon State His excellency Paul Biya on Monday signed a decree appointing some members of the country’s Higher Judicial Council for a five-year-term.

They include substantive and alternate members all designated by the National Assembly, the Supreme Court and the President of the Republic. How ever some lawyers have expressed concerns that the president did not consult the Bar. Council before making the appointment. One of such lawyers is Bar. Tamfu Richard.

“The Cameroon Bar Association is not consulted. That law should be urgently reviewed. It is incomprehensible” Bar. Tamfu wrote.
